The Summer Associate Program

The Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP summer associate program is under the direction of the Chair of the Recruitment and Hiring Committee. The Chair is assisted by shareholders and associates who direct and manage the daily activities of the summer associates. They solicit assignments from the Firm's attorneys and distribute the assignments to the summer associates.

We at Buckingham are interested in providing a rewarding experience to our summer associates and, while the program is basically research oriented, we also provide opportunities for our summer associates to interact with clients, attend depositions, pre-trials, trials, and Board of Directors' meetings--in other words, to do what lawyers do. Summer associates who choose Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP have the advantage of a variety of support systems, including secretarial assistance, docket clerks, LEXIS and WESTLAW, library staff, and automated office equipment such as state-of-the-art software systems and personal computers.

Summer associates are invited to many social activities: a welcoming reception, a ball game, and a picnic or two, among others. For those who enjoy softball, the Firm team always has room for one more team player!

Those former summer associates who later joined Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP as associates remember their summer associate days as challenging, with a variety of assignments that exposed them to many different areas of law. Students are often unsure of the area of law in which they wish to specialize and appreciate the experience the summer program offers to help them decide.
