September 11 Remembrance Ceremony

On the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, Buckingham’s Akron Office along with the Bath and Fairlawn Fire Departments joined the tenants of 3800 Embassy Parkway, to reflect on this tragedy.

David Kern, Akron Office Partner-In-Charge, began the ceremony at 9 a.m. with a moment of silence – moments before the second airplane hit the Twin Towers.

Lieutenant Brant, of the Fairlawn Fire Department, also said a few words.

“Just as Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941, has defined a generation; September 11 has undeniably shaped who we are, how we live our daily lives and what we believe in,” said Brant. “But unlike Pearl Harbor, in which one nation attacked a military installation; this time an organization of terrorists, not operating under the flag of any one nation, attacked thousands of unsuspecting innocent men and woman.”

The fire departments unfolded and then raised the American Flag, and led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

“Let today be a reminder to take nothing for granted,” said Brant. “A day to appreciate our freedom and a day to count our blessings, a day where we strive to help our fellow man, and a day to cherish our friends and families.”
