John provides legal counsel in many areas, including commercial and residential real property, including substantial experience with Section 1031 transactions, zoning matters and tax valuation proceedings; mergers and acquisitions; estate and trust planning and administration; general business, including formation, contracting, succession planning and labor matters; and commercial litigation. His vast and varied experience enables him to provide a comprehensive approach to efficiently achieving positive results for his clients (often in complex circumstances). John enjoys analyzing and strategizing for purposes of problem-solving in a time and cost-efficient manner.
John is a graduate of the University of Akron School of Law, where he served as the Articles Editor for The Akron Law Review. Subsequent to graduation from law school, he practiced for 20 years at a large law firm. John thereafter co-founded a firm where he practiced for 12 years. John went into solo practice from 2019 until he joined Buckingham, Doolittle, & Burroughs in August of 2025.
John has been a licensed title insurance agent since 1990 and is able to identify and successfully resolve title and closing issues.
John is a long-standing member of the Ohio State Bar Association and of the Stark County Bar Association (where he served for several years on the Finance Committee, being chairperson in 2024). John is a member of the Plain Township Zoning Commission.
John and his wife, Lily, have resided in Canton since 1986. Together, they raised four children and presently enjoy six grandchildren. John and Lily like to travel, hike, ski and boat.
