Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLC is proud to announce the promotion of David Kern to Partner-In-Charge of the Akron office.

Kern joined Buckingham in 1996 as an associate and was elected partner in 1999. He is a member of the Business Practice Group where he served as Co-Chair from 2000 to 2006. Kern focuses his practice on capital transactions, corporate reorganizations, tax planning, corporate succession planning and general corporate representation.

For 12 years Kern has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America®. He was the Best Lawyers in America® ‘Corporate Lawyer of the Year’ in 2009 and was recently named the 2015 ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for tax law. In addition, he has also been named one of Ohio’s Super Lawyers® since 2004 and was featured in the 2009 Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition and 2014 Super Lawyers Business Edition for his work in tax law. Kern has a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating of AV® Preeminent™, which is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards as established by confidential opinions from members of the Bar.

Kern earned a B.S from Tulane University and a B.S.B.A. from The Ohio State University. He attended Capital University Law School for his Juris Doctorate from which he graduated with honors. Kern also has a Master’s in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.

Kern is a current a trustee for the Jewish Community Board of Akron and the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank Foundation. He resides in Bath with his wife, Mary Hickox and their two daughters Olivia and Kara. Outside of practicing law, he enjoys traveling, biking, the outdoors, music and cooking.
