Dimengo Receives University of Akron Law School Outstanding Alumni Award

Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs, LLC is pleased to share that Managing Partner Steve Dimengo has received The University of Akron School of Law 2022 Outstanding Alumni Award. This award is presented annually to deserving individuals recognizing their extraordinary commitment to the legal profession, community, and The University of Akron (UA).
Dimengo graduated with his B.A., magna cum laude in 1983, his M.A. in 1986 and his J.D., magna cum laude in 1986, all from UA. He served as an Adjunct Professor for the University’s Master of Taxation Program from 1993-2021.
“It’s an honor to receive this award, especially during the law school’s Centennial Anniversary,” says Dimengo. “Over the course of being a student, teaching at the University for many years and hiring their law school graduates, I have gained tremendous respect for The University of Akron.”
He joined Buckingham in 1989, became a partner in 1994 and served as department head of the Firm’s Taxation Section of the Business Practice Group for more than 20 years. He was elected Managing Partner, Executive Committee Chair in 2018 and was recently elected to a new three-year-term. Dimengo primarily practices in consultation and representation with respect to federal, multistate and Ohio tax law matters. He has been before the Oho Supreme Court 18 times, creating substantial precedent for the tax community.
He has been the recipient of many awards, including the Dr. Frank L. Simonetti Distinguished Alumni Award from the UA College of Business in 2015. He recently was recognized by Crain’s Cleveland Business as a 2022 Notable in Law and has been listed since 2001 by Inside Business Magazine as a Leading Lawyer in Northeast Ohio in Tax Law.
Active in the community, he is a currently a member of the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce Chair’s Circle and serves as a board member for United Way of Summit and Medina Counties. He is a member and participant in the Akron and Ohio State Bar Associations, and has written multiple articles appearing in such publications as The Ohio CPA Review, The Ohio Tax Review and The Journal of Multistate Taxation and Incentives.
Dimengo resides in Cuyahoga Falls with his wife, Tina. He has three grown children.
