Buckingham Doolittle & Burroughs is proud to share that attorney Steven A. Dimengo recently presented oral argument before the Supreme Court of Ohio on behalf of client CheckFree Services Corp., a Fiserv company, in a significant sales tax dispute.
The case, CheckFree Services Corp. v. Patricia Harris, Tax Commissioner of Ohio (Case No. 2024-1569), involves key questions about the taxability of financial services, including disbursement authorizations used by consumers to pay bills.
During oral argument, Steve urged the Court to decide the remaining legal issues, emphasizing that the factual record is complete and ready for resolution. The Court’s decision may provide further guidance following its prior ruling in Cincinnati Federal Savings and Loan Co. v. McClain.
Steve is joined on the matter by Buckingham attorney Oliver Thomas.
We are honored to advocate for our clients on complex and high-stakes tax matters before Ohio’s highest court.
